New Version: WordPress 2.9 Beta 2 – Download

Good news for WordPress users and developers as well! WordPress 2.9 Beta 2 is released and available for download to be tested. A WordPress plugin called WordPress Beta Tester can be downloaded as well for those who want to keep track of the latest WordPress beta releases.

WordPress 2.9 is currently in beta and is expected to be ready in several weeks.

Major new features for developers:
– comments meta table
– improved support for custom post types
– register_theme_directory() for additional theme locations
– back-ported JSON encode/decode for both PHP and JavaScript

and for users:
– oEmbed support
– “Trash” for posts, pages and comments
– post thumbnails support
– basic image editor

  1. In one of my blogs I use the 2.9 version. But I´m not satisfied as I had many problems with plugins. Older versions of wordpress were better in my opinion. I hope that the next upgrade will save the problems.
